Dear Watermark Church family,
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:10-12
Merry Christmas! Here are some quotes to help us keep our focus on Jesus Christ.
"The very purpose of Christ's coming into the world was that He might offer up His life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas." Billy Graham
"Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world." C.S. Lewis
"Matthew loved the magi. He gave their story more square inches of text than he gave the narrative of the birth of Jesus. He never mentions the shepherds or the manger, but he didn’t want us to miss the star and the seekers. It’s easy to see why. Their story is our story." Max Lucado
"The Almighty appeared on earth as a helpless human baby, needing to be fed and changed and taught to talk like any other child. The more you think about it, the more staggering it gets. Nothing in fiction is so fantastic as this truth of the Incarnation – God with us." J.I. Packer
"Yet as I read the birth stories about Jesus, I cannot help but conclude that though the world may be tilted toward the rich and powerful, God is tilted toward the underdog." Philip Yancey
"All the Christmas presents in the world are worth nothing without the presence of Christ." David Jeremiah
"What is Christmas at its best? It is a glimpse of things to come - the beauty, the worshipful music, the adoring angels, the love, the warmth, the promise, the hope. . .all things promised to us in a life yet to come." Greg Laurie
"After all the shopping is finished, the gifts are wrapped, and the food is prepared, we might rush off to a Christmas Eve service. But even then, we often feel distracted. Though it may take deliberate refocusing, this year let's intentionally make Jesus the priority of Christmas." Dr. Charles Stanley
"O come let us adore Him; O come let us adore Him; O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord." John Francis Wade
With Christmas Eve right around the corner, here is a wonderful opportunity to invite your friends to church and ask for your help and prayers for this special event!
On Monday, December 24th, our church is hosting a Christmas Eve Celebration at 6:00 PM at Watermark Church. The event is casual and is geared to everyone, including those who have never been to church.
It will be an evening of singing traditional Christmas carols, drinking hot apple cider, eating Christmas treats, and enjoying a story or two. This will be a perfect time to bring back memories of Christmases past or establish a new understanding of Christmas!
We will start around 5:45pm on December 24 with some hot apple cider, coffee and cookies. Then at 6:00pm, we will be led in Christmas songs. We will then have a brief explanation of why Christmas is important, as we focus on the purpose for Christ’s birth.
The evening will end with carols by candlelight, and everyone will be on their way by 6:45pm.
Here’s how you can help: Please bring a plate of your favorite pastries or dessert to share on Christmas Eve!
Also, please join us in prayer each day, that God will stir the hearts of our friends and relatives, or those in the area with no church home, or those who are visiting from out of town, to come to this Christmas Eve event.
- Pray that those who attend will sense the presence of God and that they will understand God’s gift of grace found in Jesus Christ.
- Pray that newcomers will return in weeks to come to grow in their knowledge of God and His Word.
Thank you for praying with us for this opportunity to bless our community with the love of God and message of the gospel of Christ. We hope to see you at 5:45pm on December 24 at Watermark Church!
