Dear Watermark Church family,

“Now he had to go through Samaria... Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”

…Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

…Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in [Jesus] because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers.

They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.” John 4:4-42

For this Samaritan woman who encountered Jesus, an ordinary day getting water at Jacob’s well turned into the most amazing day of her life! Because Jesus took a few minutes to talk with her, the love, grace, forgiveness and eternal life she received that day became the new story of her life.

Since Jesus had changed her so profoundly, she could not help but tell others in her town what had happened to her. Many believed in Jesus because of the power of her testimony!

You and I have a story of how Jesus changed our lives, and it is worth telling all who will listen. But how can we be prepared to describe how Jesus has transformed our lives to others, in just a few short minutes?

  1. Explain to them in one minute how you needed God – for example, that you were searching, lonely, ashamed, angry or filled with anxiety.
  2. Describe in one minute how you were drawn to believe in Jesus – for example, a friend showed you in the Bible that Jesus freely offers His love, forgiveness and power to change lives to everyone. As a result, you admitted to God your need for Him, and you are trusting in Jesus to forgive you and give you eternal life.
  3. Explain how beginning your relationship with Jesus has transformed your life. For example, you have genuine peace in your life and you have freedom from specific struggles or addictions. You also have newfound priorities, such as a desire to help others. You are now experiencing a real relationship with God.

No one has your exact story of how God has changed your life. Many people are searching for the invisible God, and they can see and hear about Him through your testimony. Take time this next week to write out your God-story, one that can be shared with someone in three minutes or less. You will be amazed at how many opportunities you will have to offer the life-changing message of salvation that has meant so much to you.

Helping a family in need – Last Sunday, Noah Voss, a Monroe High School senior, took his life. The family has reached out to us for help during this difficult time. The family will be using our church facility this Monday, 2/19, at about 1:00 PM, to provide a meal for those attending the burial service being held at the cemetery next to Monroe Park on Monday.

Our task is to set up tables and chairs to serve a substantial number of friends, family and classmates attending the burial service. We are not responsible to bring any food items - the Monroe Police Wives Group is catering Olive Garden for those who attend.

How you can help: if you are available anytime between Noon and 3:00 PM on Monday, 2/19 to help with set-up and serving, please contact Patty and Tim Kellis at 513-313-1293 today. (We may do some of the table set-up after this Sunday's morning worship service as well.)

Please pray for the family in the loss of their 18-year-old son, Noah.
