Dear Watermark Church family,

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." 1 Peter 1:3

This week of Easter, we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29), the victorious One who has triumphed over the grave (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Four years ago, Kevin and Kelly Harris experienced a personal tragedy in their family, when their 18-year-old son was killed in a motorcycle accident. (The Harris’ are involved in a Christian ministry called Reasonable Faith, which “aims to provide in the public arena an intelligent, articulate, and uncompromising yet gracious Christian perspective on the most important issues concerning the truth of the Christian faith today.”) When asked how he maintained hope and found comfort during this time of terrible loss, here is Kevin's response.

“Our work with Reasonable Faith has laid some real biblical groundwork upon which to build so many things in our Christian lives. [After the loss of our son], I found myself falling through every cliché I’d ever heard or uttered. I found myself falling through my favorite scriptures and them shattering as I fell. I found myself falling through all my philosophy and through everything in a free fall. But I find myself landing on my back on a two and half to three-ton stone that was rolled away from the tomb. And I just am laying there on that hope. We stand on the rock [of the resurrection of Jesus, the Savior].”

Amidst the sorrows of life, we have one sure hope: Jesus is the Son of God who has risen from the dead. The reality of the resurrection of Jesus is central to the hope we have in this life, and in the life to come.

May God grant you and your family peace, joy, and power this week as you celebrate the Lord Jesus Christ, the risen Savior. Please join us this Sunday at10:30 AM as we look at “What love really means,” as demonstrated by the love Jesus has for each of us.
