Dear Watermark Church family,
This Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day. Enjoy these quotes regarding the high calling and influence of fatherhood.
"The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who revere Him." –Psalm 103:13 (NLT)
"A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society."—Billy Graham, Christian Evangelist and Author
"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother."—Theodore Hesburgh, Catholic Priest and President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame
"Train up a child in the way he should go—but be sure you go that way yourself."—Charles Spurgeon, 19th Century British Preacher and Theologian
"One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters."—George Herbert, Anglican Priest, Poet
"A man ought to live so that everybody knows he is a Christian … and most of all, his family ought to know."—Dwight L. Moody, 19th Century American Evangelist
"My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it."— Clarence Budington Kelland, U.S. Writer
"I like to compare the job of a father to that of a long-distance runner. Fathering is a marathon—a long and often trying journey—and we must be disciplined if we hope to finish successfully."—Ken R. Canfield, Ph.D., The National Center for Fathering
"I just owe almost everything to my father...it's passionately interesting for me that the things that I learned in a small town, in a very modest home, are just the things that I believe have won the election." —Margaret Thatcher, First Female Prime Minister of the U.K.
"We are given children to mature us and make us more spiritual."—George Will, U.S. Journalist
"It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father."—Pope John XXIII
"No matter what it is that we do best, we would do well to follow JR Tolkien's lead--to use the gifts we have been given to enrich the lives of our children, who indeed are every parent’s legacy." –Katherine Anderson, "A Father's Gift"
"What a boy can use, and too often doesn't have, are the heart of his father and the fellowship of men. A boy needs at least one man who pays attention to him, spends time with him, and admires him. A boy needs a role model, a man whom he can regard as a mentor." –Dennis Rainey, "A Father's Presence"
"The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise."—Proverbs 23:24 (NLT)
