Dear Watermark Church family,
Jesus Christ is everything to us! Here are some quotes to encourage you to look to Jesus Christ and to Him alone:
"Jesus was God and man in one person, that God and man might be happy together again." George Whitefield
"This man (Jesus) suddenly remarks one day, 'No one needs to fast while I am here.' Who is this Man who remarks that His mere presence suspends all normal rules?" C.S. Lewis
"My evidence that I am saved does not lie in the fact that I preach, or that I do this or that. All my hope lies in this: that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. I am a sinner, I trust Him, that He came to save me, and I am saved." Charles Spurgeon
"The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ came to do three things. He came to have my past forgiven, you get a purpose for living and a home in Heaven." Rick Warren
"The dearest friend on earth is a mere shadow compared to Jesus Christ." Oswald Chambers
"When we think of the ideal, we do not add virtue to virtue, but think of Jesus Christ, so that the standard of human life is no longer a code, but a character." E. Stanley Jones
"Jesus was God spelling himself out in language humanity could understand." S.D. Gordon
"God doesn't just give us grace; He gives us Jesus, the Lord of grace." Joni Eareckson Tada
"A rule I have had for years is to treat the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal friend. His is not a creed, a mere doctrine, but it is He Himself we have." Dwight L. Moody
"And we proclaim [Jesus]...." Colossians 1:28
Communion this Sunday – we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper this Sunday, October 13 during the morning worship service.
Thanksgiving food baskets
“He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” Proverbs 22:9
As a church outreach project this fall, we would like to provide 20 Thanksgiving baskets to needy families living in our community. In addition, if someone in the church knows of someone that is in need, we will help them as well.
You can help by bringing in food items each week, or by simply donating $25 in cash or check, and Patti will do the shopping for you.
Here is a list of items to bring each Sunday:
10/6 Week one Bring 2 cans of corn
10/13 Week two Bring 2 cans green beans
10/20 Week three Bring 2 cans of yams
10/27 Week four Bring stuffing mix
11/3 Week five Bring cake mix
11/10 Week six Bring frosting
11/17 Week seven Bring a can of cranberry sauce
11/24 Week eight Bring a frozen turkey, to be delivered that day
We will deliver the baskets on Sunday afternoon, 11/24/19.
Please keep Diane and Robert Crowder, Doug Combs, Claudia Shrive, Susan Ries, Dorothy Thelen and Bob Valtman in prayer as each of them are being treated for various physical ailments and surgeries.
Claudia Shrive is in Kettering Hospital (room 2516) 937 298-4331. She had a stent implanted in her carotid artery, which was partially blocked. Thank you for your continued prayers.
Trunk or Treat – We will host our annual Trunk or Treat outreach on Sunday, October 27 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. The plan will be to have it outside, weather permitting. If they are calling for bad weather, we will move inside.
Here is how you can help:
- Church members will decorate their cars for kids to “trick or treat” at.
- There will be six games to play and we would love to see the youth kids run the games.
- If we have enough workers, we would like to have the pumpkin story told at a station that we have set up.
The pumpkin story goes like this:
- Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch and brings you in (John 15:16).
- He washes off all the dirt off you. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- He opens you and up and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, fear, hate and greed. (Romans 6:6)
- Last, He carves you a new smiling face (Psalm 71:23)
- And puts his light inside of you to shine for all the world to see. (Matthew 5:16).
Let Patti Kellis know if you would like to decorate your car or help with the games for our Trunk or Treat.
Operation Christmas Child is accepting school supply donations such as notebooks, pencils and crayons and small children’s toys, stuffed animals, etc. for the shoeboxes which will be sent out in the fall. Bring these donated items to our church lobby over the next few weeks.
The Men’s Fellowship Breakfast is held every Friday at 7:00 AM at the Waffle House at the Monroe Outlets / SR 63 & I-75. Join with the men of Watermark Church for an encouraging time of fellowship!
A Women’s Bible Study is being taught by Claudia Shrive on Sunday mornings at 9:30AM at the church.
A Watermark group is studying “Marriage on the Rock” every other Saturday at 6:30 PM at the Gibson’s. See Nathan Gibson or Paul Settimo for more info.
Together knowing Jesus as our all in all,
