Dear Watermark Church family,
“He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” Proverbs 22:9
Over the past 30+ years, our church has always joined with other churches in the Monroe area and partnered with the school in supporting the Thanksgiving basket ministry. There are normally over 300 families in the Monroe area that receive baskets.
As a church outreach project this fall, we would like to provide 20 Thanksgiving baskets to needy families living in our community. In addition, if someone in the church knows of someone that is in need, we will help them as well.
We feel this is something that should be done through donations or contributions from members, rather than through the church budget.
You can help by bringing in food items each week, or by simply donating $25 in cash or check, and Patti will do the shopping for you.
Each week, the food basket items to be donated for that week will be listed in the weekly newsletter and in the Sunday bulletin.
Here is a list of items to bring each Sunday, beginning THIS Sunday:
10/6 Week one Bring 2 cans of corn
10/13 Week two Bring 2 cans green beans
10/20 Week three Bring 2 cans of yams
10/27 Week four Bring stuffing mix
11/3 Week five Bring cake mix
11/10 Week six Bring frosting
11/17 Week seven Bring a can of cranberry sauce
11/28 Thursday, 11/28 Bring a frozen turkey, to be delivered that day
We will deliver the baskets on Sunday 11/28/19.
Quote of the day:
"Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable." David Augsburger
"Let all be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit." 1 Peter 3:8
Please keep Diane and Robert Crowder, Doug Combs, Claudia Shrive, Susan Ries, Dorothy Thelen and Bob Valtman in prayer as each of them are being treated for various physical ailments and surgeries.
Operation Christmas Child is accepting school supply donations and small children’s toys, stuffed animals, etc. for the shoeboxes which will be sent out in the fall. Bring these donated items to our church lobby over the next few weeks.
