Dear Watermark Church family,
“I’m writing… so you’ll know how to live in the family of God. That family is the church…” 1 Timothy 3:14,15 New Century Version
“We love, because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.” 1 John 4:19-21
One of the answers to the question “What on earth am I here for?” is that we were made for fellowship in God’s family! You and I were formed by God to live in and contribute to the community of believers in Christ. There are a few levels of fellowship.
1. One level of fellowship is friendship. As we become involved in the lives of others in the community of believers (the church), we become friends. This means learning to share with one another. We share our life experiences. We share our homes and our possessions. We share our needs and problems with one another.
2. Fellowship also means that we develop a partnership with one another. Each of us has something to contribute to the health and growth of the body of Christ. Each of us is gifted by God and has a unique role to fill in fellowship with others.
3. Fellowship is like being in a family. Christians are members of God’s household with other “brothers and sisters” in the faith! We care for each other, stay committed to each other in any crisis, rejoice with one another and weep together. As a spiritual family, the church is a place God created for us to belong to and to thrive in.
Are you actively participating in fellowship in the family of God? Join us this Sunday at 10:30am at Watermark Church! There is no greater joy than to live out your journey with Christ in fellowship with other followers of Jesus!
