Dear Watermark Church family,

“They brought the donkey to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road.

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” Jesus replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:35-40

This Sunday, April 14, is Palm Sunday, the day on which Jesus road a donkey into Jerusalem to begin what is referred to as Holy Week, ending on Easter Sunday. The crowds were enthusiastically praising Jesus as their King, awestruck at the miracles He had performed earlier. They threw their cloaks on the ground in homage to the King, and waved palm branches in His honor as HE entered the city.

But Jesus was not the kind of King they thought He was. He did not come to overthrow the Roman government or destroy all their enemies. He came as the Ruler of God’s Kingdom, asking men to allow Him to rule in their hearts.

As He went to the cross a few days later, on Good Friday, the praises of the crowd turned to scoffing and jeers. O how easy it is to turn on the One Who offers us forgiveness and eternal life.

As we approach Holy Week, may we receive Jesus in our hearts as our King! May we declare His blessings, which we have received from Jesus, to those around us each day. Then the rocks will not have to cry out – for declaring His glory to a lost and dying world is our main purpose in life.

Easter Sunday is April 21! Here are a few volunteer opportunities for Easter Sunday:

1. PRAY for many new visitors to join us on Easter Sunday, and that they would find forgiveness and new life in Jesus.

2. Invite your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers. Invitation cards are available on Sunday morning for our Easter service on April 21 at 10:30 AM.

3. Packing plastic Easter Eggs! Pick up a bag of empty plastic eggs from the church lobby this week, fill them with candy and return them by this Sunday, April 14. (Please group together and label any plastic eggs filled with gluten free or peanut-free candy.)

4. Please bring a plate of cookies or breads/pastries by 10:00 AM on Easter morning for the refreshment table for our visitors to enjoy.

Today, Watermark Church is providing a “Thank You Meal” for Monroe firefighters today for helping us clean up our flooded church basement this week. We want to give back to those in our community who daily lay their lives down for others. Thank you to those who provided food for the meal!

Baptism Coming!  We are planning to have a baptism soon. Fill out the connection card this Sunday if you would like to be baptized.
