Dear Watermark Church family,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; revere the Lord and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8
As a follower of Christ, there is a choice to make in every circumstance, difficulty, trial, hardship or perplexing situation we face. Will we choose to trudge forward, dependent on our own worldly wisdom, fashioning a plan of our own design to get through things? Or will we look to our God, and “acknowledge Him” in all our ways?
Leaning on our own understanding means we are choosing to address our situation from a merely natural, fleshly, worldly and unspiritual perspective. It means that we are not considering the fact that God is aware of our situation and wants to help us through it.
As we acknowledge Him, we find the hope and power to persevere until we see His desired outcome.
To acknowledge Him means that we let go of our plans to resolve the situation, and instead ask God to reveal to us His plan and perspective.
You may want to quit, but God may lead you to persevere. You may want to fight, but God may lead you to be a peacemaker. You may want to hold on to your rights, position or title, but God may lead you to let it go, for something even better. You may want to take revenge or defend yourself, but God may ask you to let Him vindicate you in His time. You may want to protest the actions of another, but God may want you to reconsider your own actions first.
Proverbs 3 provides a choice of perspectives – ours or God’s. Which way will you lean today? On your own understanding, or will you look to God for His? Only one choice leads to peace; only one choice leads to finding the straight path; only one choice leads to hope and power from above. Today, let’s choose to trust in Him.
Our Watermark Church Easter Sunday worship service was a wonderful celebration of our Risen King! We are so glad so many of you joined us for the worship, fellowship, Word of God and fun Easter Egg Hunt and refreshments afterwards. Thanks to every person who contributed time and talent to help the morning be such an uplifting time. It brought much glory to the Lord!
